2010 Baseball Rules Changes Include Bat Standards Adjustment

NFHS News

The clarification of baseball bat specifications was among four rules adjusted by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Baseball Rules Committee at its annual meeting June 7-9 in Indianapolis. The rules changes subsequently were approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.

Conroe Tigers "End of Season" Banquet Set For May 11

The "End of Season Banquet" date is set for May 11th.  Banquet will be held at Conroe Community Church (C3) located at 206 A S. Loop 336 W #151, Conroe, TX, 77304  .  Tickets for the Fajita dinner will be abavailable at the door for $10/plate.  Dinner will include a drink and desert as well.  Serving will start at 6:00 with the program starting at approximately 6:45 in which the coaches will announce the teams and pass out individual awards voted on by the players.  Banquet is open to the public so everyone come out and have a great dinner and show support for the 2010 Conroe Tigers Baseball program.

Tigers Close Out Season With Loss to College Park

At Ferrell Park on Saturday, the Conroe Tigers closed out the 2010 season with a loss to District Champions College Park Cavaliers 6-0.  The Tigers were only able to get one hit off College Park whcih came in the sixth inning on a sharp sinlge to left off the bat of Graham Raven.  Senior Jordan Marah pitching in his final high school game threw 4 2/3 strong innings before running into some trouble and leaving the game after a taking a sharp single off his knee.  Sophmore Cody Myrick pitched the final 2 1/3 innings.

Coach Romero and his staff paid a final tribute to each of the 10 Seniors on this years squad and their parents prior to the start of the game.  The Tigers started in the field with all nine positions manned by graduating seniors.  Graduating seniors for the 2010 Tigers  are
Michael Dodd, Tyler Davis, Kendall Campbell, Chirs Allen, Bryce Creighton, Cole Peyton, John Foote, Travis Hogue, Graham Raven, and Jordan Marah.

We wish all the Seniors good luck in their future endeavors and thank them for their contributions over the last four years to the Conroe Tigers Baseball Program.

College Park Vs. Conroe Time Change

Saturday's (5/1) game time between the College Park Cavaliers and the Conroe Tigers has changed to 1:00 PM instead of the original 7:00 PM.  Tonight is the final game of the season for the Tigers and the Senior Parents will be honored prior to the game.  Game will also be broadcast "live" on emshds.com for those unable to attend.  Please come out to cheer on the Tigers in their final game of the season.

Conroe Loses Battle With College Park 4-1

Friday night at The Diamonds, the Conroe Tigers lost a close battle to the Colleg Park Cavaliers 4-1.  College Park opened the scoring in the bottom of the third inning on a double followed one batter later with an RBI single to make the score 1-0.  In the top of the fourth Kendall Campbell hit a one out double and came around to score on a two out RBI sinlge off the bat of John Foote to tie the game at 1-1.  The Cavaliers quickly took back the lead on a single, FC, and another RBI single to make the score 2-1.  in the bottom of the fifth inning the Cavaliers added another two runs on a base on ball, single and an 2 RBI double to make the score 4-1.  The Tigers put runners on base in the sixth and seventh innings but were unable to push across anymore runs.

Greg Belton was the starting pitcher for the Tigers going 5 iinings, allowing 4 runs, and 7 strikeouts.  Cody Myrick came into pitch in the sixth inning allowing no runs, no hits, and one strikeout.  Offensively the Toigers were led by Scott Tucker who went 2-3, Campbell 1-3, and Foote 1-3 (RBI).  The Tigers will close out the season on Saturday at Ferrell Park at 1:00.  Before the game this years Seniors and their parents will be honored.

New Caney Rallies to Defeat Conroe

The New Caney Eagles rallied to score two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Conroe Tigers 5-4 at Adam Dunn Field in New Caney on Friday night.  New Caney started off he scoring in the bottom of the second inning picking up one run off a double, single and a fielders choice to take a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth inning the Tigers responded with a run to tie the game when Greg Belton reached on an error then moved to third on a single by Caleb Kroon.  Belton scored on a double play grounder off the bat of Travis Hogue to make it a 1-1 game.  The Eagles responded with two runs in the bottom of the fourth on a Conroe error, single, sacrifice fly, and another single to make the score 3-1.  In the top half of the fifth inning Scott Tucker led off with a single, followed by a fielders choice by Chris Allen which led to Kroon's second hit of the night, a double to right field to score Tucker.  Kendall Campbell grounded into a fielders choice to score Allen to end the scoring in the inning and tie the game at 3.  In the top of the sixth inning the Tigers went back on the offensive when Foote led off with a single, advanced to third on a error by the Eagles and crossed the pay station on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Davis to put Conroe up for the first time in the game 4-3.  The score remained the same until the bottom of the seventh when Eagles pushed across a run on a sacrifice fly to tie the game and then scored the winning run with two outs on a single to end the game - Final score 5-4.

Belton started for the Tigers going six innings allowing, 3 runs, and 12 strikeouts.  Cody Myrick, who came in to relieve Belton in the seventh, was the losing pitcher going 2/3 of an inning and allowing 2 runs.  Offensively the Tigers were led by Kroon and Foote both picking up two hits on the night and Tucker picked up the other hit.  Kroon, Campbell, and Davis each collected one RBI a piece.

The Tigers now stand 6-19-1 on the season and 1-12-0 in district.  The Tigers travel to College Park to play on Friday night and close out the season with a Saturday game against College Park at Ferrell Park on Senior Night.
